2026 Ramakrishna Paramhansa Dev's 191st Birthday Celebration- A Report

On Saturday, April 4, 2026, the Ramakrishna Ashrama in Warren, Michigan, joyfully celebrated the 191st birth anniversary of Thakur Sri Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Dev. The sacred occasion was graced by the presence of Swami Ishatmanandaji, President of the Vedanta Society of Chicago. A highlight of the day was the spiritual initiation of seven aspirants by Swamiji, welcoming them into the Ramakrishna Mission tradition. Approximately 300 devotees from the local community gathered to participate in and witness this auspicious celebration. The program featured a special puja dedicated to Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda. The rituals included traditional food offerings, aarti, and devotional prayers, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere. Devotees also took part in bhajans and readings from revered texts such as Sri Sri Ramakrishna Kathamrita, Sri Sri Mayer Katha, and Yuvanayak Vivekananda. Time was set aside for meditation and japa, allowing attendees to deepen their inner spiritual practice. Devotees also offered Pushpanjali (floral tributes) to the Holy Trio as an expression of devotion and reverence. The celebration concluded with an inspiring discourse by Swami Ishatmanandaji, who emphasized the importance of selfless service as a path to spiritual growth. The event ended with the distribution of prasadam to all attendees.
