Vedanta Study Circle and Ramakrishna Ashrama, Detroit, Michigan
The Ramakrishna Ashrama in Warren, Michigan, was blessed to host a special Satsang on Sunday, August 23rd, 2026, in the holy presence of two distinguished monastics of the Ramakrishna Order: Rev. Swami Kripamayananda, Head of the Vedanta Society of Toronto, and Rev. Swami Ishatmananda, President of the Vedanta Society of Chicago. Both Swamis emphasized the importance of "Naam Japa" and "Jive Daya". They reminded us that the Divine Power is present in His Name and encouraged us to pray for "ruchi" — a sincere love and taste for repeating His Name. Sri Ramakrishna taught that Jive Daya can sometimes increase one's ego. Instead, he emphasized “Shiva Jnane Jiva Seva”—serving all beings with the awareness that they are manifestations of Shiva, the Divine. In this spirit, service becomes not merely an act of compassion, but an act of worship. All devotees were served Bhog Prasad at the end of the discourses.
