Vedanta Study Circle and Ramakrishna Ashrama, Detroit, Michigan
On Sunday, February 9th, 2025, the Ramakrishna Ashrama in Warren, MI, hosted a heartfelt celebration to honor the birthday of Swami Vivekananda. The event was attended by approximately 100 local devotees, who gathered to commemorate this special occasion. The celebration included a special puja in reverence to Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa, the Holy Mother Saradamani Devi, and Swami Vivekananda. This sacred ceremony featured food offerings, "aarti," and heartfelt prayers. Devotees also participated in singing bhajans and reading from the revered texts of the Holy Trio, namely Sri Sri Ramakrishna Kathamrita, Sri Sri Mayer Katha, and Yuvanayak Vivekananda. The program highlighted the extraordinary life of Swami Vivekananda, reflecting on several memorable incidents that shaped his impactful journey to the West to preach the principles of Vedanta. Devotees also engaged in moments of meditation and japa, deepening their spiritual connection. The event concluded with the offering of Pushpanjali (flower offering) followed by lunch, where devotees shared delicious prasadam together.
