Vedanta Study Circle and Ramakrishna Ashrama, Detroit, Michigan
The Ramakrishna Ashrama in Warren, MI, celebrated Kalpataru Ustav on Monday, January 1st, 2024 with great devotion. About 75 local devotees gathered at the Ashrama to celebrate this special occassion. 1st January is a very special day for all devotees of Sri Ramakrishna as it is believed to be the day when the Master revealed himself as an "Avatar", an incarnation of a divine being.
The program started at 4:30 pm with some devotional songs dedicated to Thakur Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa. The devotees read from the holy books namely, SriRamakrishna Kathamrita, Mayer Katha and Yuvanayak Swami Vivekananda and sang several bhajans dedicated to the Holy trio. Special puja of Thakur Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Saradamani Devi, and Swami Vivekananda, was performed where food offerings were made and "aarti" was performed. After the Puja, the devotees discussed the signifinace of Kalpataru Day celebration, reminiscing the unforgetable event of January 1st, 1886 when Thakur had granted his divine grace to all his devotees gathered at Kashipur Udyanbati in Kolkata. At the end of the discussion, all attendees had Bhog Prasad, sponsored by Mr. Ajit Das and his family.
