Vedanta Study Circle and Ramakrishna Ashrama, Detroit, Michigan
The Ramakrishna Ashrama in Warren, MI, celebrated Kalpataru Ustav and Sri Maa Sarada Devi's Birthday on Sunday, January 1st, 2023 with great pomp and show. About 50 local devotees gathered at the Ashrama to celebrate this special occassion. 1st January is a very special day for all devotees of Sri Ramakrishna as it is believed to be the day when the Master revealed himself as an "Avatar", an incarnation of a divine being.
The program started around 11am. A special puja of the Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Holy Mother Saradamani Devi, and Swami Vivekananda, was performed where food offerings were made and "aarti" was performed. After the Puja, the devotees sang bhajans, read from Ramakrishna Kathamrita and discussed the signifinace of Kalpataru Day celebration, reminiscing the unforgetable event of January 1st, 1886 when Thakur had granted his divine grace to all his devotees gathered at Kashipur Udyanbati in Kolkata. At the end of the discussion, the devotees offered flowers to the Holy Trio. All attendees were treated to a sumptuous lunch of Bhog Prasad, sponsored by Mrs Gouri Roy and her family.
